Cleaner air is a public-health mission
Every vehicle that fails an emission test is a source of pollution removed from the air our families breathe. REIP exists because cleaner air is not abstract. It is measured in healthier lungs, fewer hospital visits, and children who can grow up without the burden of preventable respiratory disease.
By aligning inspections to proper set standards and bringing real-time emission detection to centres across Rwanda, we turn individual vehicle checks into a nationwide reduction in harmful pollutants.
Africa Deserves Better
The air around schools and busy roads carries a health cost that falls hardest on the young.
25 to 175
µg/m³ PM at Kigali schools
Particulate-matter levels measured around Kigali schools, well above what young, developing lungs should endure.
709,000
child deaths globally (2021)
Air pollution was linked to roughly 709,000 deaths of children under five worldwide in 2021.
Peak-hour congestion
Traffic at peak corridors reach high numbers, a constant stream of emissions near where children learn and play.
Protecting the environment, protecting human life
Environmental Stewardship is one of REIP's core values, and our vision is to aid in the preservation of the environment and ultimately protect human life. Cleaner-running vehicles mean fewer harmful pollutants in the atmosphere and a healthier climate for Rwanda and the wider region.
- Real-time detection of harmful pollutants aligned to proper set standards.
- Vehicle-health diagnostics that extend vehicle life and reduce environmental impact.
- Motorbikes included in emissions testing alongside cars and trucks.
- Mechanic training that fixes the problem at its source, not just measures it.
